http://web.uvic.ca/smac/rsvp/webinars.
3. February 28 application deadline for early admission
The application deadline for early admission to many UVic undergraduate programs is approaching. Current grade 12 students studying on the BC high school Dogwood diploma will want to complete their online application by February 28. Students who have not applied may do so at www.uvic.ca/apply.
4. Self-Reporting Phase 2 reminder
Please remind your current grade 12 students to self report grade 12 marks before the March 31 deadline at
www.uvic.ca/self-reporting in order to be considered for early admission and academic based scholarships alone. Students who self reported their grade 11 marks in Phase 1 (October to November 2011) must report their grade 12 marks in Phase 2 to be considered for entrance scholarships. Please note that predicted or interim grade 12 marks, along with any final grade 12 marks required for students’ intended faculty or program, are being accepted.
5. Scholarship applications
Students need to self report predicted, interim or final grade 12 marks required by their faculty or program to be considered for entrance scholarships based on grades alone. No separate application is required. To be considered
for entrance scholarships based on marks and other criteria (such as community service, leadership experience and involvement in extracurricular programs), students must complete the online entrance scholarship application for specific criteria scholarships by the May 15 deadline. Please visit www.uvic.ca/entrancescholarships for details.
6. Housing application update
Students planning to live on campus for their first year must complete the on-campus housing application for September 2012-April 2013, to be posted in March on the housing website at http://housing.uvic.ca. Current graduating high school students are guaranteed a place in residence if they are beginning their studies at UVic in September 2012. Please remind students that they are only guaranteed on-campus accommodation if they are admitted to UVic, pay their $200 acceptance deposit and apply for on-campus housing by June 30, 2012.
7. New Biomedical Engineering Degree Program
The University of Victoria is excited to announce that its new Biomedical Engineering Degree Program was approved by the University Board of Governors on January 31, 2012. Please note that approval from the Ministry of Advanced Education is still required before the program can be offered. If approved,
the Faculty of Engineering will begin offering this program to both first- and second-year engineering students in September 2012. More information about biomedical engineering at UVic can be found at
www.uvic.ca/engineering/prospective/undergrad/programs/details/biomedical-engineering.php.
8. Expansion to the Bachelor of Commerce program
UVic’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business continues to grow, meaning more students will be able to earn their Bachelor of Commerce degree. Up to 60 more students will be admitted directly into year one in September 2012, adding a fifth cohort to the program and increasing the total number of students per year from 240 to 300.
